Ed Pershing
Ed is the founder and principal owner of Healthcare Horizons, and the founder of PYA, which was recognized as a Top 15 healthcare management accounting firm by Modern Healthcare and a Top 100 accounting firm by Inside Public Accounting. Ed became interested in the business side of the healthcare field when he was selected as one of 18 professionals from the United States and Great Britain to participate in the first Ernst & Ernst (today Ernst & Young) one-year education and work-study program in healthcare industry matters. Ed is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Health Lawyers Association and is a founding member of Governor Bill Haslam’s Task Force on Health & Wellness. He is a recipient of the Knoxville Business Journal Healthcare Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award. He has served on the boards and advisory councils of Tennessee’s first Ronald McDonald House, the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont, University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business and the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Foundation. Ed has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of Tennessee and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Tennessee.
Randy King
Randy is a principal owner and the president of Healthcare Horizons. Randy has performed healthcare claims audits for self-funded employers since 1999, and all of the company’s current audit projects are performed under his direction. He has been part of the leadership team since 2003 and has served as president of the company since 2014. With more than 24 years of healthcare experience, Randy has worked with both payers and providers, auditing all national and most regional carriers and third-payer administrators across the country. He has expertise in claims auditing, big data analytics, project management and operations. His experience includes involvement in several government programs for the state of Tennessee, including the start-up of a behavioral care organization. Randy earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and his bachelor’s degree in Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Randy received a Data Analytics Certificate from Cornell University, SC Johnson College of Business.
Felicia Hall
Felicia is vice president and Chief Information Officer of Healthcare Horizons. With extensive expertise in database management, software design, reporting development, account management, testing and documentation, Felicia brings more than 20 years of experience to her role. Her background includes project management for state and local juvenile justice clients, reporting development for state and government emissions requirements, and programming for a large community health system. Felicia is one of the company’s primary SQL experts, and she manages significant volumes of data, database management and data mining. She also participates in all facets of claims audits to ensure that knowledge gained from the data mining process is utilized throughout the company’s projects. Felicia has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, Tenn.
